DEAR TED “How do you find out what is really going on in the organisation?”

  1. Don’t eat at your desk, go join different people at coffee breaks and lunch times
  2. Take an interest in and listen to your security officers, your caterers and your cleaners, your Human Resources assistants, your finance team and the PAs, they know the most!
  3. Personally attend consultation meetings and department meetings, arrange breakfast or lunch drop in sessions
  4. Create a safe place/way for people to raise issues and ask questions
  5. Go and be a cleaner for the day, or any other enabling role
  6. Actually drive changes in response to issues raised, then more will follow
